OMG! I’m Hungry again!

OMG! I’m Hungry again!

Featured image

Have you ever been attacked by sudden hunger pangs  when you least expected it?  Like for instance while at work, or while travelling or while you are busy shopping or the worst of all midnight hunger pangs. I think yes. Okay, so when you feel hungry it’s quite tempting to reach out for your refrigerator and stuff yourself with the delicious sinful food(desserts, chocolates, ice cream) till you can stuff no more. Or while you are out of your home, it’s quite easy to reach out for that latest food joint serving the delicious pizzas and burgers isn’t it?? Why even go to the food joint, when you have got food trucks stationed all around the city to relish on the mouth-watering street foods.

Now see, I’m not against these GUILTY FOOD INDULGENCES. The reason I am calling it as GUILTY FOOD INDULGENCE is because the pizzas or the burgers that you are eating will definitely satisfy your taste buds and you for that moment only, but later you feel guilty because you are piling up the calories with each passing day with no rest in between. The main thing here is all about balance, it’s okay to indulge in food that you like once in a week, that too if you have been eating correctly the entire week and also exercising regularly. But if you eat that guilt ridden foods with each passing day with a mind full of guilt and greedy taste buds, then you can easily expect to put on more weight and with no exercise and no healthy foods, you can only expect your health to deteriorate in the long run.

So what should you do to take control of your hunger pangs? Fret not, I have got solution in my hands and I’m going to share it with you. So, here we go:-

  1. Keep your body properly hydrated. A minimum of 10-12 glasses of water a day is a must. If it is summer and too hot and humid, then you might need even more. And I’m talking here about water only, not the tea, coffees, or the colas or soda.
  2. Keep healthy snacks with you all the time. You can stock it up at your home or carry it with you on the go. Healthy snacking option like nuts, cheese, soy milk, yogurt etc. You can always carry some peanuts or almonds with you; it does not harm you to carry it.
  3. It is always better to munch on some salads and remember, not the salad at the salad bar. It’s always better to make your own salad with the dressing of your choice.
  4. Fruits are a healthy snacking option. Always stock your refrigerator at home with the freshest seasonal fruits. And don’t slice up or cut the fruit, eat up the whole fruit to get all the nutrients intact.
  5. Eat your food on time always, that way you will never have to suffer from untimely hunger pangs. And never skip your meals.
  6. Flax seed are a good snacking option. They are healthy and also beneficial for you health and beauty.
  7. You can always indulge in dark chocolates; they are guilt free and loaded up with antioxidants.

So, next time if hunger attacks you, feel free to stuff yourself with the guilt free food mentioned above. Hope this article helped you. Feel free to give your feedback’s. Your feedback’s are much valued.

Why dieting is a fad and is on the verge of Extinction?

Why dieting is a fad and is on the verge of Extinction?

Featured image

‘Hey, I can’t have those carbohydrates, I’m on a diet’

‘I’ll be only drinking 12 glasses of juice a day and fruits’

‘I’m on a diet of boiled veggies only’

‘Rice, are you kidding, how can I eat rice?’

So I started my article with these crazy lines and you might be thinking, whether I’m out of my mind or what? But, no I’m talking some serious business here.

Okay, answer one of my questions. Did you ever came across someone who has spoken these lines mentioned above or even something similar to it or did you ever speak these lines yourself or even worse, actually practiced it??  In all probability, I bet your answer would be YES. Even if you don’t practice it, you might have seen somebody say it or do it.

You know what; we people are so obsessed with dieting, that we don’t even care to understand the hidden hazards of dieting. Dieting has become more of a fashion. It has actually become fashionable to eat less or not to eat at all. People actually take pride that they are capable in starving their body. But, tell me, does it make any sense to deprive your body from receiving the required nutrition? No, absolutely not.

Nowadays, we live in concrete jungles with little or no greeneries around us, breathe the chemical mixed oxygen (thanks to the increasing number of vehicles, factories, industries), eat processed food or frozen food and most of the time we don’t even cook our own food, we rather order it. In a nutshell, we are already deprived of good nutrition and on top of that we diet.

Now if we starve our body, just think what will happen? We’ll become weak, our resistance power will decrease and our immune system will start failing. In such a situation we’ll often complain of headaches, fatigue, constipation, gas etc. But, even after suffering all of these, being the proud person we are, will never bow in front of our body. We will keep on popping pills but refuse to have a proper plate of healthy nutrition rich food. The reason being, ‘ I’m watching my weight; don’t want to put on more fat.’

Why are you busy blaming your food for your fat or rather flab, blame it on your sedentary lifestyle, your lack of physical activity and exercise. If you exercise or get involved in more physical activity, then only your body will be in a state to utilize the nutrients received from your food in a better manner. If you don’t exercise or lead a sedentary lifestyle, it will take no time for your body to convert your food to fat. Remember one thing the reason you are not losing your weight is not because you can’t give up on your favorite dish, it’s because you don’t lead an active lifestyle.

So, today take a pledge to lead a healthier lifestyle. Switch over to healthy eating and smart exercising. Health and beauty starts from within you, feed your body with good food and accompany it for some exercise.

Replace Your Sodas and Soft Drinks with Infused Water.

Replace Your Sodas and Soft Drinks with Infused Water.

I am the only person who has control over my eating habits. I can always resist something if I choose to. – Louise Hay

Summer’s officially arrived here in this part of the world. I’m from the Indian subcontinent. The temperature’s soaring high, the mercury level is also rising and along with that our thirst is also on the rise. In such weather, we feel quite tempted to lay our hands on that glass of chilled soda or better to stock our refrigerators at home with our favorite brands of soft drinks. We can’t deny the fact, that most of us do this, may be a few of us have the fullest control over our taste buds, but the rest of us, we just fail miserably in it. Am I right? Of course yes, I could hear the silent yes, you are mumbling inside your mouth. But, the main question here is, are the sodas or the soft drinks that we relish, with such satisfaction really healthy? No, absolutely not. They are not healthy at all. Here, some of you might be tempted to say that, “Hey, look I only drink the flavored one, not just flavored but the lemon flavored one or say the orange flavored one, aren’t they supposed to be better than the colas.” Absolutely no, I’m so sorry to break your heart.

Flavored or no flavor, colas or no colas, all of them are equally unhealthy, because they are all loaded with lots and lots of sugar. Even, the diet colas, they too contain a lot of sugar. And, knowingly or unknowingly you are consuming the sugar and piling up the calories in your body and deliberately helping your body to age faster. And, not only sugar or artificial sweeteners, they also contain other harmful substances like :-

Aspartame (used in diet coke) – can cause cancers and tumors

Maltodextrin – can cause allergies

Sucrose –  it can cause heart disease,

High fructose corn syrup – it can promote the storage of fat in your body.

Aren’t you scared already, see my main intention is not in scaring you, but in making you aware about these harmful substances, that you are stuffing inside your body, with no second thoughts. Your body is no garbage bin or garbage pit, so stop treating it like one, treasure it, take care of it. You might ask here, “So, what should I do then? I just get too bored drinking plain water all the time.” Then why don’t you try infused water? It’s healthy and at the same time flavorful too, minus the sugars, artificial sweeteners and harmful substances. And the main advantage is that, it does not require much effort to prepare too. Read on to know more about infused water.

What is infused water?

Infused water is a mildly flavored water. The flavor comes from the fruits and herbs that we place in the water, while leaving it to rest for a few hours to get the maximum flavor.

What are the requirements to make my own infused water?

The things you will need to make your own infused water are as listed below:-

  1. Pitcher or a large jar with a lid.
  2. Fruits or herbs of your choice (you can use lemon, apples, oranges, berries, watermelon, pineapple mint, rosemary, basil etc.). Play up with your imagination and try different combinations, you might love. Don’t fear to experiment.

How do I make my own infused water?

  1. Firstly, slice or cut the fruits into cubes. If using herbs like mint or basil, crush it a bit.
  2. Place the sliced/cubed fruits and herbs at the bottom of the pitcher or jar. Fill it with water. Stir it a bit with a spoon.
  3. Let it sit for a few hours for the flavors to infuse completely. A minimum sitting time of 2-5 hours is required, but you can also let it rest overnight for maximum flavorful drink. If you like it chilled, keep it inside the refrigerator.
  4. When the wait is over, pour it in a glass and enjoy or fill it in a bottle and take your own infused water with you, wherever you go.

So, this summer, don’t forget to try out the healthy infused water in place of sodas and soft drinks. Remember health and beauty starts from within you, so feed your body with love and you will definitely be showered with love.
